Wu Ching Ju

Born in Taiwan in 1961, Wu Ching Ju was deeply touched by the simplicity, grace and harmony of the art ikabana (flower arrangement), her favorite when she was young. As she grew up, she was also influenced by Chinese traditional culture and art. She started painting at the age of 22, the year she began to live in the States with her husband. After migrating to Holland in 1993, she started learning the manifestation of western art and develped a passion and motivation for sculpting.
Up till now, after over a decade of devotion in sculpture and painting, Wu Ching Ju has formed her own distinct style, which features women’s elegant and gentle body movements, dancers’ souls, love between mother and son and legendary ancient females, all captured by and expressed through a woman’s sensitive and delicate senses. Her works show aspiration and dreams of modern women, the care a mother gives to her child and the attachment she gets in return, and a Chinese’s pursuit of traditional culture, which perfectly blends the soul of oriental culture and the manifestation of western art.
Her works are passionate, capturing an evanescent sentiment. Everyone in her works is given a soul. She is elegant, confident, proud and persistent in her pursuit. Her works transmit beauty and love, which calms people down in a hustle and bustle world. She is aesthetic.
Experience around the world, especially the cultural impact from Europe inspired her and lead her to high achievement, but Chinese culture is always where her profundity and motivation lies. In the recent 10 years, Wu Ching Ju’s works has been kept by European museums, royal families, bankers, lawyers and businessmen, winning her great honor, fame and broad recognition and respect in western art field. She would always say, I am a Chinese artist nurtured by Chinese culture. I express my self-retrospection, my dream, my pursuit, my love and responsibility through art.
Wu Ching Ju’s works were introduced to Chinese connoisseurs through Langfeng Art Gallery in 2004, and soon aroused great attention. Her work Cheng was kept by Shanghai Municipal City Planning Bureau, and another one Truth, Goodness and Beauty by Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation.
These years, Wu Ching Ju has been dedicated to philanthropy. Her work Flying Dance was under charity auction in five cities around the world; her work Deep Love is duplicated into 999 pieces selling globally. The UN Children’s Foundation China Branch is the only beneficiary of the two programs. The funds collected will be used to support Chinese children, especially those living in poverty, for the benefit of their future.
