ARTIST

Milan Handl

Milan Handl is the maker of architecture, temples and fortresses of stately appearance, the creator of the mysteries of light and illusory space. Larger cycles of earlier works were marked by the concern for the aesthetics of free geometrical construction and minimalism of forms. With the same compendiousness he realized works which accentuated the situation within the sculptures, when the light penetrates dark spaces, splits and creates the illusion of reflection. It was led by the aspiration to concentrate on the perception of factual aspects of the light diffusion in an optical medium and its variability as absolute aesthetic value. In recent works, there the optical aspect has given place to colour quality and also the form has changed. The sculptures have gained a painter’s expression by sporadically oustanding colourfulness of the used opaque molten glass. The inspiration parts from completely civil topics of figuration, symbols and natural motives appear as well.
